So, my daughter Mari and I got a wild hare one night. I was taking an archaeology class focusing on daily life in Iron Age Israel, with a concentration on food production and consumption.

“What if we cook something from that time period?” I asked Mari. She was already reading up on some fascinating ancient recipes from Greece and Rome, and had stumbled across a marvelous collection of recipes from ancient Babylon, over 3,500 years old.

She has her Masters in Archaeology Conservation, and she is something of a gourmet as well. the quintessential researcher, queen of the lab, and excellent cook, Mari undertook to create as authentic a dish as we possibly could in 21st century U.S.A.

This film is the culmination of our efforts, complete with Mari’s carefully curated recipe at the end.

Bon Apetit!
