Goals and desires are not the same thing.

In fact, a ‘goal’ is something a person can accomplish, on their own, such as matters of personal discipline. For example, I can make it my goal to get up at a certain time of day. Under ordinary circumstances, that is not a responsibility I need to place in someone else’s hands. I am able to accomplish this on my own.

However, ‘desires’ are what people long for—even intensely long for—but cannot pull off on their own. I may, for example, intensely desire for a sunshine-and-blue-sky day for my outdoor party. Still, I cannot make it a goal to have one. I need God’s help for that.

But learn what happens, in this ten-minute video, when goals and desires get criss-crossed!
