I had never heard of Jonathan Cahn before, but somehow on my newsfeed, or through a friend—or maybe it was another one of those Amazon suggestions—I came across this intriguing title, The Harbinger: The Ancient Mystery that Holds the Secret of America’s Future!

Wow, right??

I was not disappointed, although it took a little while to get used to Cahn’s style of writing. It is very much dialogue, question-and-answer in the ancient style of a yeshiva school, an Orthodox Jewish college or seminary. But once I let myself relax into his rhythm, I found even the style itself swept me up into a cloud of mystery, and the book became a Sensurround experience.

Jonathan Cahn wrote a couple more books, continuing with the original theme in The Harbinger (which analyzes the events surrounding 9.11.01 and ensuing fallout), and then wrote a devotional I really enjoyed, The Book of the Mysteries, which explores hidden depths in many Bible passages.

But the book I really want to tell you about is a knock-your-socks-off retelling of Israel becoming a nation once again and what implications that may hold for the world’s future. The Oracle: The Jubilean Mysteries Unveiled, is fascinating in its careful attention to detail.

Jonathan Cahn, in his inimical fashion, once again brings in a mysterious and timeless sage who helps a man with an emerging prophetic gift to understand the powerful visions God has been showing him. Each set of visions carries a revelation about how Israel came back into being in ways that weave scripture, documented events, individual people, the grand scope of western history, and seemingly random yet epically connected stories into one cohesive narrative.

Think of a time when you were in church and heard the scripture long since scheduled for that service, or were reading a daily devotional that you’d been keeping up with, or a Bible passage from a regular study you were doing. Suddenly, the hairs stood up all along your arms, because the passage took on new power and relevancy with an uncannily accurate connection to something happening in your life. Or even what you were thinking and feeling that no one else knew … except God.

That was the feeling I got over and over again as I read about the events Cahn chronicled, then revealed what the scripture reading for that particular day was in synagogues throughout the world. These scripture readings had been established centuries before, so the timing of events and scripture readings would have had to have been mastered by an architect who spanned millennia.

I know of only One.

The Lord God.

The book is laid out in a series of seven doors which themselves open up onto a series of visions. Two main characters, a sage and an emerging prophet, discuss these visions yeshiva style. Through their conversations the reader is brought into the compelling, intricately complex mystery of Israel’s rebirth, but also ultimately the beginning and rebirth of earth itself.

  • Very unlikely real-life people were all part of this hidden story, such as Mark Twain, the famous archaeologist Charles Warren, and Dwight D. Eisenhower.
  • All throughout the book, the sage brings in scripture readings that—I kid you not—have hair-raising details about times and dates, places and people.
  • Incredibly specific actions happen seemingly randomly but, when examined beside certain prophecies and Bible passages, take on an organized and planned shape.
  • Even the most recent and unexpected U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital factors into the story Cahn writes about.

I’m going to Israel next week and will be there for about a month and a half. Four of those weeks will be spent in Haifa, examining ancient artifacts and imagining the stories they represent. At least a couple of those days will be in Jerusalem, and while there, I’ll have Cahn’s visions in mind, marveling at how powerfully God is at work—not just in our individual lives, but in the movement of history across earth.

  1. Reblogged this on Zero Lift-Off and commented:
A tremendous and monumental trip to come and I’m happy to hear of it!
Which I see as a commemoration of the upcoming 75th anniversary of the return and repatriation of the homeland to God’s chosen people, while news of this trip comes by no mere coincidence! Today when this notification came in my Word Press cue, your posting was in precise successive order with another fine posting from a beautiful Christian site I follow which covered very well the topic of what God’s word states in this Scripture, which is so absolutely timely as is your trip to the Holy Land!
Jeremiah 3:19 “Then I said, ‘How I long to make you My sons and give you a desirable land, the most beautiful inheritance of all the nations!’ I thought you would call Me ‘Father’ and never turn away from following Me.”
This other posting focuses on the reality of what we as Christians should presently be aware of, which is that time is growing short for this world and a paramount warning of prophesy is coming soon. All the world will witness it and it will be as I like to put it, the final Wake-Up call for everyone to turn to Jesus Christ and be saved!
This coinciding of these two postings brought me to reflect on some Scriptures I wrote recently in response to another Christian’s visit to the Holy Land recently; so I will include those here for consideration.
1 Timothy 5:1-25 “Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as if he were your father. Treat younger men as brothers, 2 older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity.
3 Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need. 4 But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God. 5 The widow who is really in need and left all alone puts her hope in God and continues night and day to pray and to ask God for help. 6 But the widow who lives for pleasure is dead even while she lives. 7 Give the people these instructions, so that no one may be open to blame. 8 Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
9 No widow may be put on the list of widows unless she is over sixty, has been faithful to her husband, 10 and is well known for her good deeds, such as bringing up children, showing hospitality, washing the feet of the Lord’s people, helping those in trouble and devoting herself to all kinds of good deeds.
11 As for younger widows, do not put them on such a list. For when their sensual desires overcome their dedication to Christ, they want to marry. 12 Thus they bring judgment on themselves, because they have broken their first pledge. 13 Besides, they get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also busybodies who talk nonsense, saying things they ought not to. 14 So I counsel younger widows to marry, to have children, to manage their homes and to give the enemy no opportunity for slander. 15 Some have in fact already turned away to follow Satan.
16 If any woman who is a believer has widows in her care, she should continue to help them and not let the church be burdened with them, so that the church can help those widows who are really in need.
17 The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. 18 For Scripture says, “Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain,”[a] and “The worker deserves his wages.”[b] 19 Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses. 20 But those elders who are sinning you are to reprove before everyone, so that the others may take warning. 21 I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism.
22 Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, and do not share in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.
23 Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.
24 The sins of some are obvious, reaching the place of judgment ahead of them; the sins of others trail behind them. 25 In the same way, good deeds are obvious, and even those that are not obvious cannot remain hidden forever.”
Sadly I see where our whole civilization collectively has been running contrary to this particular Holy Scripture with the corrupted “Ways of The World” and those who are truly faithful like you who are doing the Lord’s work to carry the torch as it were of God’s Truth onward as teachers to all who will awaken and listen if they haven’t been already. Then this following Scripture drives home the urgency and imperative that all should pay heed to right now with a sense of urgency.
Philippians 2:12-13 “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.”
James 2:18 But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”
Let’s pay total attention to these words that always have jumped out grasping my attention to reality! But now like a blaring fire alarm.
“Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling”
As I said this is a really wonderful expression here that provides as I see it truthful perspective and inspiration as well. Because as I mentioned in my opening statement this is a monumental observance of the resettlement of the Holy Land by God’s chosen people in this very generation we now are living in; and how profoundly these 70 plus years are smack-dab in the exact zone of Human Life Expectancy. On average both sexes is 73.2 years (life expectancy at birth, both sexes combined). Which to me stood out and “signified the generation” in which the Jewish people have been restored to full citizenship of their original land; or in other words this now current generation which is coming to a close in the near future, in not many more years. We are in the prophesied time of the Bible before the Second Coming as Scriptures are being fulfilled.
I quote excerpts from a previous article I posted back on June 4, 2020.
“Yet more than 50 years since the battle for Jerusalem, Rosenberg says Israel and its capital remain on the front lines.”
“Jerusalem is the epicenter,” he told CBN News. “You know for 4,000 years people have wanted this city and they have fought hard to get it. And so, the fact that Israel controls it today is biblical, it’s prophetic but it’s also complicated, and we need to be praying for the peace of Jerusalem and praying for Israel to be secure.”
“Biblical Prophecy is now confirmed and there will be no other great Kingdoms on Earth! America is the last one serving the Gentiles spoken of in the Holy Scriptures that would happen just as Prophesy said it would in the End Time.”
“The Winds of Truth and Justice are Here!”

The trip to the Holy Land will be amazing but real change must and will come from within ourselves by taking full responsibility and ownership of our failures, as well as successes in serving the Lord God! This purposeful trip will help to exemplify this by bearing good fruit! That is the take away I get from all of this now, and how there is no time to waste in accomplishing our serving of God’s will. Amen.
God bless you and yours. This be a trip full of God’s blessings I do pray.

  2. Also quite noteworthy is the mention of oracle!
Jeremiah 3:19 “Then I said, ‘How I long to make you My sons and give you a desirable land, the most beautiful inheritance of all the nations!’ I thought you would call Me ‘Father’ and never turn away from following Me.”
Then the next verse which led through to verse 25; but the word oracle is here.
Jeremiah 3:20 “But like a woman faithless to her lover, thus have you been faithless to me, house of Israel—oracle of the Lord.”
The Holy Land Restored to God’s chosen people and the book title and then this Scripture placed at the beginning of the other web site’s article today containing the word Oracle; is saying, pay attention now!
    This is what I see.

    1. I’ve been there myself, Brother Lawrence, when I know the Lord was saying, “pay attention to this.”

Thank you for reblogging this post. Jonathan Cahn’s book is well worth the read and he has a prophetic gift. Grace and peace, Joanne

      1. Oh I see what you mean Sister Joanne… and I sure should be reading his book now that you brought it to my attention in such a mysterious set of circumstances that like a flashing sign say, “Pay Close Attention Here!”

As far as the reblog I do nothing really, it’s you that totally deserves thanks for addressing this in your typically beautifully written fashion; making such a presentation that brings so much of God’s truth to the fore!

        Grace and Peace Always!
        Lawrence
        Shalom
