In the first five words of his letter, employing the double entendre behind the meaning of his name, Simon Peter the apostle called on his readers, to listen and to grow into their faith as ones who endured with the strength and durability of living stone.
He came to them both in the humility and exaltation of being both slave and apostle of the One Most High, Messiah, King of kings and Lord of lords.
