John 11: Jesus Develops Martha’s Faith

This talk was originally delivered Sunday morning for New Hope Chapel, Arnold MD

I read a book a while ago called, Where Is God When Bad Things Happen? Written by Luis Palau. As you can imagine form the title, the author talks about the traumas and tragedies that you and I experience in life, and why God seems to allow them.

Where was God?

What was God doing?

What is God doing?

That is what Martha and Mary were wondering in this story, and probably Jesus’s disciples, too.

I Jesus Delays After Lazarus Dies, 11:1-6

God’s delays are not always God’s denials; they may be windows to display God’s glory.

II Jesus Develops Martha’s Faith, 11:17-27

The same power that raised Lazarus empowers believers today.

III Jesus Overpowers Death, 11:28-44

Nothing can stop Jesus from giving life to those who trust Him.

IV Religious Authorities Have Different Responses, 11:45-57

God’s revealed glory will inspire a response
