In the passage just before this one, Mark talked about the scribe who had asked Jesus about the greatest commandment and was impressed with Jesus’ answer.
Jesus was also pleased.
He told the scribe he was very close to entering the kingdom of heaven. With such a warm endorsement from a scribe, this was a rare teachable moment, the right moment, in today’s passage (Mark 12:35-44), for Jesus to talk about Messiah, and to teach His disciples the difference between a false reading, and a true reading of scripture.

Sister-in-Christ Jesus, Joanne. This excellent overview of the establishment of the Canons and of course the Books of the Bible as being true or false is explained very well; for just like any reading or interpretation can be true or false it all depends on who is doing the reading and if there is any hidden agenda or maligned purpose, say like a conspiracy! So for now I elaborate on this point of Truth or Falsehood!
Indeed the Canons along with their well-established histrionics of the time period when they were produced all interlace as a beautiful literary tapestry and factual historical accounting, precisely into the books of the Bible! Coming together from multiple authors and countries in the region of Israel during Christ’s time on earth along with eyewitness testimony, all integrating into a historically accurate text with corroborating evidence of established unimpeachable eyewitness figures of the time; apostles, prophets and the like, giving the text the greatest veracity of truth and established fact that can be attained in any written document’s authenticity of being historically accurate and established as “a matter of fact!”
The Bible is a Revelation of Truth; God’s Truth that Jesus was personally conveying to mankind in order to awaken and inspire, thus it was God Himself that spoke these words of Truth, as the “ultimate awakening” to lead us onto paths of righteousness and subsequently our salvation; through His only begotten Son Jesus Christ our Savior!
This became a personal matter that God came to settle Himself, not some “pie in the sky event.” There is no better way to do it and bring His plan to fruition! Instead He came and not only paid our debt or ransom for our sins, but, He personally came to teach and show us the way to everlasting life in God’s kingdom, Paradise.
Amen.
God bless you.
Brother Lawrence-in-Christ Jesus.
As you say, Brother-in-Christ Lawrence, these words are God’s truth, inspired by the Spirit of God, saying what God intended them to say. We need not look further than the revelation of God in the created world (as Paul said in Romans 1), the inspired word (the Bible), in the living Word (our Lord Jesus Christ).
May God continue to bless you in your writing ministry, grace and peace, your sister in Christ, Joanne
Sister-in-Christ Jesus Joanne! Thank you very much for this verification and clarity or even emphasis when needed on my points of concern, which truly helps me greatly to put into proper perspective the things I must about God’s truth; while I’m still here to do so!
Your storehouse of knowledge and wisdom is enormous and serving God righteously through your ministry and educational work! Yes I read many a time how this is “the inspired word of God Himself” that we read and talk about, and though I know this to be the case I can use a reminder like this now and again, to be more inspired and compelled; so that this bottom-line truth becomes part of my DNA as they say!
May God bless you abundantly now and always Sister in Christ Jesus Joanne!
