Jesus was not concerned that Jezebel was a woman overseer in the church. Jesus was concerned that Jezebel was a bad leader, one who falsely claimed God’s anointing, and led God’s own astray.
Hebrews: Strange Teachings
We have some options when we hear a teaching that doesn't sit well or sound right.
James: Introduction
James letter was written possibly in the mid-to-late 50’s AD, more as a circular of wisdom and exhortation, to be passed from community to community, much like the letter written by the Jerusalem Council around 50 AD, recorded in Acts 15.
1 Peter 5: From Babylon
With the help of Silvanus, who would personally deliver apostle's letter, Peter concluded his teaching with greetings from those who were with him, a final instruction to extend the love of Christ to each other, and a prayer they would experience the peace Jesus gives.
Acts Wednesday: Chapter 15, Solutions
Anytime you or I try to relate to God through performance, we have forgotten the Gospel. But you and I are to do everything out of love, out of compassion, out of a humble desire to sacrifice our own comforts in order to build each other up. If you and I believe in Jesus Christ and love the brethren, we will try not do things that offend.
Acts Wednesday: Chapter 15, “Iron Sharpens Iron”
In Ephesians 5, Paul wrote about the "Sword of the Spirit," saying it was the word of God. The author Hebrews said this sword was living and active, sharper than any actual sword. There are times when iron must sharpen iron
Acts Wednesday: Chapter 15, Unity
God was creating a new humanity – He was expanding the parameters of His chosen people to include all those who put their faith in Jesus. They would die with Christ and be born to new life, as a new person, a part of a new race of people who were all deeply connected to each other as brothers and sisters, beloved children of God.
Acts Wednesday: Chapter 15, Dissension
These divisions are pretty sharp. It’s hard to know how to keep integrity and still live koinonia with our brothers and sisters in the Lord whom we sharply disagree with.
