Gospel of John: Garden to Garden

John 20 moves backwards through Genesis 2-3, restoring each of the ruptured relationships caused by humankindโ€™s rejection of God: the reign of death, the rule of man over woman, and the broken bond between God and humanity.

Gospel of John: Mary of Magdala

All four Gospel accounts describe Maryโ€™s faithfulness and courage, a major financial supporter and patron of Jesusโ€™s ministry, one who remained with Jesus at the foot of his cross until his death, and the first to arrive at his tomb the morning of his resurrection.

Gospel of John: Resurrection Timeline

Though the synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke) all synchronize with each other, and John seems to stand alone in what it recounts, all four gospels agree on the main events concerning Jesusโ€™s trials, crucifixion, death, and resurrection. Many have sought to create a timeline of events, poring through these four eyewitness accounts, as I will also do, today.

Gospel of John: Weighing the Evidence

We accept the resurrection as attested to by not only these eye witnesses, but the hundreds of others who also saw Jesus and interacted with him in the month following his resurrection.

Gospel of John: He is Risen!

The risen Lord was about to be revealed, first to Mary, then to the women who had come to complete his burial, and finally to the disciples and all those in his inner circle of on hundred and twenty devoted supporters and friends.

Mary of Magdala

In this twenty minute talk, weโ€™ll first follow Mary through the years she was a student and supporter of Jesus, then we will spend most of our time in the Garden with Mary at Christโ€™s empty tomb, and end with a deeper understanding of ourselves as members of the Body of Christ.

Gospel of John: Revelation to Martha

Or are we living in active faith that Jesus is powerfully at work within our inward beings, transforming us, and is also at work in our physical world, bring shalom to all those around us, including the earth itself?

Minor Prophets: Jonah, ื ึธื—ึทื nรขcham

When the Hebrew language speaks of God โ€œrepenting,โ€ the word most often is โ€œnacham,โ€ referring to inner suffering that needs to be consoled.

Gospel of John: The Big Reveal

Just as Jesus was one with the Fatherโ€™s will and Godโ€™s power, so you and I, the more we willingly meld our wills with the Lordโ€™s, will receive Godโ€™s vision, all the things God has planned for us, and the power to do it all.

Gospel of John: Gauntlet Dropped

A superficial faith reduces Christianity to a philosophy, a formula, a system of rituals. A superficial faith keeps worship on Sunday and has real life on the other six days. It says that religion is something private, a matter of opinion, a sidebar to the things of life.
